Born Beverley, 1882. Son of Henry Leman De Caux (1838-1912) and Alice Pearson (1841-1905), of 22, Regent Street, Beverley, East Yorkshire (1911 Census address). His father was born in Norfolk, his mother was from Sunderland and they married at Beverley in 1873.
Son of a Coach Painter. He had two sisters, Ethel and Ellen and an older brother, George Pearson De Caux.
Harry De Caux was an Elementary School Teacher. He married Harriet Ramshaw at Beverley, in 1910.
Husband of Harriet De Caux, of 51, Wellington Street, Stockton-on-Tees (CWGC address).
He enlisted as Private, 45135, Northumberland Fusiliers. Posted to France on 11 Dec 1916. Transferred as Private, 38217, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Commissioned on 28 May 1918, as Second Lieutenant, Durham Light Infantry, “C” Coy. 29th Bn. Killed in action, on 15 October 1918, aged 36.
Buried at Kandahar Farm Cemetery, Heuvelland, Belgium
He is commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial, where he was born.
