Born Beckenham, Lincolnshire, 1869. Son of James William and Marta Greensides, of 111 Lairgate, Beverley (1911 Census)
He was a General Labourer. Married at Lincolnshire, on 31 Oct 1896. His wife died on 31 May 1913.
The guardian of his children, was Mr Frederick Greensides, at 113, Lairgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire (war pension address) His two children, were Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth.
He enlisted at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Served in the 1st Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 3 June 1915.
His army effects were left to his brothers, James W. and Walter B Greensides.
He is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium. Also commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial.
