Born Elloughton, Yorkshire, 18 Feb 1885. Son of Mrs. Harriet Harker, of Elloughton, Brough, Yorks.;
Married at Beverley, in 1911. Husband of Mabel Jane Harker, of Hull and 44, Woolley Street, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire (CWGC & War pension records). He had three children, Ellen, Thomas and Jack. Employed as an Oil Miller, living at 6, Poplar Grove, Sculcoates Lane, Hull (1911 Census).
He had enlisted on 12 Feb 1903 and served with the Royal Marine Light Infantry: Portsmouth Division. Discharged & Paid £8 on 8 Jan 1910 & enrolled RFR ;
Mobilised 2 Aug 1914 ; Portsmouth Bn. at Ostend, Dunkirk & Antwerp 1914 ; Posted to Gallipoli on 28 Feb 1915 – 2 May 1915.
Died of wounds aboard Hospital Ship & buried at sea, on 02/05/1915, aged 30.
Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
