Age on admission 21, at onset 19 years 6 months. Duration of present attack 1 year 6 months. Not dangerous but suicidal. Medical Certificate by D.F.J. Foster:- (a) Patient was excited, walked up and down the room. Said he was a ruined man and feared that “they” would tar and feather him. Asked why, he gave me a rambling statement connected with Pelmanism in which he thought he was involved. (b) Frances Ann Hurst, hostess, tells me he has requested a revolver, he has often said he wished he was out of all his supposed troubles. He frequently makes rambling statements about some trouble he has in connection with Pelmanism. ; Change first noticed about Oct.1919 – making wild statements and thinking he was followed by men. ; Mental State: 12/3/20 States he has to stand his trial for being mischievous. 16/3/20 Statement to Board of Control:- “Delusional Insanity. States that he has been ruined by Pelmanism (2 books), that he has been shadowed by his relatives and employees for years, that he was kept out of the Passchendaele stunt by his guardian, a Miss Hurst, from birth.” 23/3/20 Thinks people talk about him etc. 28/3/20 Thinks the hymns at church today referred to him and his relatives. 28/4/20 Depressed and restless ( ……?) and unable to concentrate his attention. 8/6/20 Very restless and troublesome – flings himself on the ground in an agitated state saying he wants to die. Health Moderate. 28/7/20 Has failed considerably last few days. Has required spoon feeding for some time. Has taken food well today. Does not make any effort to pull round. 2/8/20 Died at 10.00 a.m.
