Hudson, Robert Ernest

Born York, 1884. Son of George and Helen Hudson, of York. Married at St Johns Church, York, on 3 Jun 1906. Husband of Eliza Ann Wildman, at 21, Fitzroy Terrace, Heslington Road, York  (1911 Census). They had three children, harry, Ellen and Hilda. He worked for the Rowntree’s Chocolate Confectionery Maker, Haxby Road, York.

He enlisted on 29 Nov 1915. Called up on 5 June 1916. Posted to France on 6 June 1917. Served with the Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment. Transferred to the 2/6th Manchester Regiment. Received gun shot wounds to wrist and back & returned to England. Discharged on 26 Sept 1919. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 311757).

After the war he resided in Hull. He died at York, on 28 Feb 1923, aged 39 (war pension records)
