He was a member of the East Riding RGA Territorials between 1908-1912.  Enlisted at Hull, on 5 Aug 1914. Posted to France, on 19 Sept 1917. Discharged with Tuberculosis, on 1 Nov 1918. Served 4 years and 81 days. Described as a “steady, Reliable Man”. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: B37615).

Married on 31 Oct 1914. Husband of Edna, at 24, Sharp Street, Hull & 22, Welbeck Street, Hull (war pension addresses). He had two children, Joan Mary & Kenneth Richard. Died on 27 Feb 1924
