Pte. Arthur Barnes, 12th EYR was killed by a sniper on the 25th June 1917. He left his wife Edith at 2 Courtney Street. His brother Sgt, John Barnes, 7th EYR, had been previously killed on the 10th July 1916. His third brother, Pte, George Barnes was killed on the 11th October 1917, serving with the South Wales Borderers. These three brothers were the sons of Robert and Ann Barnes who lived at 44 Nornabell Street.
