Private, Herbert Lloyd McDonald enlisted in Canada and served with the 47th Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF). He saw much fighting and was killed in action, at Vimy Ridge, on 25/06/1917, aged 26. BORN HULL 27/09/1885. SON OF GEORGE YOUNG & LOUISA HILDRETH YOUNG, OF 8 TRINITY GROVE, ELLA STREET, HULL. EMIGRATED TO CANADA. SERVED WITH THE 48TH CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. KILLED ON 21/04/1917, AGED 32. LISTED IN HULL DAILY MAIL AS KILLED. HE LEFT SISTER EMMA WHO LIVED AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS. NO CWGC RECORD.
