Born Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, 1893. Son of Arthur Sainty (1851-1908) and Clarissa Ann Sainty (1862-1948), of 69, Manchester Street, Hull (War Pension address). He had nine brothers and seven sisters. Was a Professional Soldier when war began (1911 Census). Enlisted Great Yarmouth. Served with the 1st Essex Regiment. Killed at Gallipoli, on 08/05/1915, aged 21

Thompson, Herbert

Born Reighton, Yorkshire, 1893. Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Dolphin, of Lissett, Lowthorpe, Driffield, Yorkshire (War Pension Address). Resided Bridlington. Enlisted at Bridlington. Worked as a Farm Horseman. Served with the 1st Essex Regiment. Died of wounds, on 15/11/1917, aged 24. His grave inscription reads, “Thy Will Be Done”.

BORN MUNDFORD, NORFOLK, 1887. SON OF ROBERT BRISTON GARROD AND FANNY SUSANNAHA SEWELL, OF 11 LOCKWOOD STREET, HULL. ENLISTED NORWICH. EX 17735 NORFOLK REGIMENT. LIVED MUNFORD, NORFOLK. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 4TH AUGUST 1916. NO CWGC RECORDS.
