04.08.1914 The 1/21st stationed at Camberwell and the 1/22nd stationed at Bermondsey both as part of the 6th London brigade of the 2nd London Division and then moved to St. Albans area
16.03.1915 Mobilised for war and embarked for France arriving at Havre.
11.05.1915 Formation became the 142nd Brigade of the 47th Division and engaged in various actions on the Western Front including;

The Battle of St Quentin, The First Battle of Bapaume, The Battle of the Ancre, The Battle of Albert, The Second Battle of Bapaume, The operations in Artois.
