Born Coates, Cambridgeshire, 1889. Son of William and Alice Ann Watford, of Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. Enlisted Peterborough. A Serving Soldier when war began. Served as Sergeant in the 5th Northamptonshire Regiment. Awarded the Military Medal (MM) for bravery. Died of wounds, on 30/07/1916, aged 27.
