Born Aldbrough, Yorkshire, 1899. Son of William Francis Butler and Mrs. Ada Elizabeth Butler, of “Roseville,” Aldbrough, Hull. Enlisted Hull. Formerly 114021, 5th Territorial Reserves. Transferred to the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers. Died action, on 27/05/1918, aged 18. Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France. He is also recorded on the Aldbrough WW1 Memorial.
