Born Halifax, 1886. Son of Reuben and Rebecca Darwin, of Halifax. A shop Assistant, living at 32 Royal Avenue Doncaster (1911 Census). Enlisted in Hull. Served as Corporal, "B" Bty. 223rd Bde., Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action on 25/08/1918, aged 32. Buried in France. His grave reads, HE SAVED OTHERS HIMSELF HE COULD NOT SAVE
