Born Knottingley, Yorkshire, 1882. Married at Goole, in 1910. Husband of Susannah Newel, at 134, Craven Street, Hull (war Pension address). Served as a deckhand in the Royal Naval Reserve, HMS "Ceto". Lost at sea, on 31/07/1918, when Drifter "City of Liverpool" was sunk. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial
