Known as “Alf”. Born Beverley, 1896. Son of Edward and Fanny Thackeray, of 68, St. Andrews Street, Beverley, East Yorkshire (CWGC address). He enlisted at Beverley. Served with Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own), “C” Coy. 5th Bn. Killed in action on 15/09/1916, aged 19. Commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme, France.
