BORN HULL 1883. SON OF WALTER DEAKIN (1859-1903) & SARAH ELIZABETH DEAKIN (1860-1934), of 69, GIBSON STREET, SYKES STREET, HULL & (WAR PENSION & CWGC ADDRESS). HE LOST HIS FATHER WHEN HE WAS 12 YEARS OLD. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HIS BROTHERS GEORGE WILLIAM, PETER, WALTER, CHARLES H DEAKIN ALSO SERVED. HE LIVED AT 15 SEATON STREET, HULL AND WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER (1911 CENSUS)

PRIVATE, ALFRED DEAKIN, 267490, “D” COMPANY, 9TH NFUS, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/09/1918, AGED 35. BURIED AT ROYAL IRISH RIFLES GRAVEYARD, LAVENTIE, FRANCE.

HIS BROTHER PETER WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER, LIVING AT 15, SEATON STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS AND WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MATILDA, AT 9 WILSON ROW, WINCOLMLEE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
