BORN WAKEFIELD 1893. SON OF FAITH & THE LATE REVEREND, JAMES AARON, OF EGTON STREET & 29 MARVEL STREET, HULL.
BEFORE THE WAR JIM WORKED ON SHIP KEELS, LIKE HIS FATHER BEFORE HIM. HE ENLISTED IN HULL.
JIM AARON SERVED WITH THE 8TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY AND WAS KILLED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME. 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 23. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THEIPVAL MEMORIAL.
HE IS ALSO REMEMBERED ON THE HULL WESTERN SYNAGOGUE MEMORIAL, LINNAEUS STREET, HULL. JIM WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR CONSPICUOUS BRAVERY AND FEATURED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 16/12/16 & PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE HULL TIMES ON 26/09/1914. *
HE WAS REPORTED MISSING IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 26TH OCTOBER 1916. HIS WIDOWED MOTHER RECEIVED HIS MILITARY MEDAL FROM THE KING, AT AN INVESTITURE IN HULL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON THE 3RD JULY 1917.
