BORN LIVERPOOL 09/01/1883. SON OF WILLIAM ROBINSON ACKERS AND ELIZABETH COLLINS. ONE OF TWELVE CHILDREN. HE WORKED IN HULL AS A COACH PAINTER AND BOARDED AT 3 SHAKESPEARE STREET, HULL, (1911 CENSUS). HE ENLISTED WALLSEND ON TYNE. SERVED IN THE 9TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED DURING THE GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE ON 22/3/1918, AGED 35. HIS NAMES IS RECORDED IN THE HULL TRINITY CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR.
HIS FATHER RECEIVED HIS ARMY EFFECTS. TWO OF HIS BROTHERS JAMES AND HAROLD ACKERS, FROM LIVERPOOL, WERE BOTH KILLED IN 1918. THEIR FATHER HAD LOST THREE SONS IN ONE YEAR.
