Adlard, John Kirk

Born Grimthorpe, Lincolnshire, 1891. Son of John and Sarah Adlard, of Grimsby. He had one brother, Joseph, three half brothers, Frank, Ellis and Sidney and three half sisters, Grace, Emily and Olive. A Farm Servant, He joined the army on 30th Dec 1910 and deserted on 20 April 1911. Worked as a Lorry man.

He married at Barton, on 15th February 1915. Husband of Everlyn Robinson, of 6, Vaults Lane, Waterside Road, Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire (War Pension address). They had three children.

He enlisted in Hull, on 9th Sept 1914. Served with D Battery Royal Horse Artillery (1911 Census) and Hull’s 11th Divisional Ammunition Colum, RGA. He was posted to Egypt on 22nd November 1915. Returned to England suffering from Nephritis (Kidney Inflammation), on 21st November 1916.  Posted to France, on 2nd June 1917. Transferred to the 7th East Yorkshire Regiment, on 2nd September 1917. Killed in action, on 29/03/1918, aged 27.

He is buried at Bouzincourt Ridge Cemetery, France. he had served for 3 years and 302 days.

His army effects were left to his widow Everlyn, who re-married.
