BORN HATFIELD 1891. ELDEST SON OF EDWARD ALDRED (1860-1915) AND SUSAN BOYES (1867-1916), OF 7 LIZZIES GROVE, RHODES STREET, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HE HAD SIX BORTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1915. HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1916. HIS FAMILY THEN LIVED WITH HIS SISTER, MISS LAURA ALDRED, AT 7, TICHBOURNE TERRACE, BEAN STREET, HULL AND 7, LIZZIES TERRACE, RHODES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
HE WORKED AS A FARM HORSEMAN, AT SWINE CONISTON, HULL. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3 INCHES TALL, 36-38 INCH CHEST, 117 LBS WEIGHT.
HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY ON 9/05/1915, (WITH HIS BROTHER, ROBERT). SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRAINED AS A BOMB THROWER. SENT TO FRANCE 18/08/1915. KILLED IN ACTION 16/09/1916, AGED 25. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 14/10/16. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SHARED BETWEEN HIS SIBLINGS, ROSA, ROBERT, ARTHUR, JANE, LAURA, GEORGE, HERBERT, ALFRED AND EDITH.
HIS BROTHER, ROBERT ALDRED, 8TH EYR, WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED ON THE SOMME ON 14/07/1916 AND DISCHARGED ON 22/06/1917. HE WAS BURIED IN HULL WESTERN CEMETERY ON 31/03/1918, AGED 23.
