ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN. WORKED AS A REGISTERED SEAMAN AND GENERAL LABOURER. MARRIED AT ST AUGUSTINE’S, HULL, IN 1914. WIFE ELSIE MAY RUDDIFORTH AND DAUGHTER KATHLEEN BORN IN 1915.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE ROYAL SIEGE ARTILLERY, 90TH SIEGE BATTERY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT POPERINGE, ON 24/01/1918, AGED 37. HE IS BURIED AT DOZINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON CLIFTON SCHOOL ROLL OF HONOUR. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/01/1918. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND YOUNG CHILD.
