BORN HULL 1878. SON OF ELIZABETH ALLEN AT 3 CARTWRIGHT’S PLACE, SPRING BANK WEST. HE WAS EDUCATED AT HULL’S HYMERS COLLEGE. HIS WIFE ELSIE HILDA ALLEN & TWO CHILDREN LIVED WETWANG, NEAR MALTON. HE HAD SERVED IN THE BOER WAR AND HAD A MEDAL WITH FIVE BARS. HE CIVILIAN LIFE HE WAS A CAB DRIVER AND ENLISTED THREE WEEKS AFTER THE START OF THE WAR. HE JOINED THE HULL PALS. SERVED WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED ON 04/01/1917. HIS PHOTOGRAPH APPEARS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL 25/01/1917.
