WORKED AS A TUG FIREMAN, MOTOR VAN MAN AND EX HULL & BARNSLEY RAILWAY WORKER. WIFE ETHEL MAY ALLITT LIVED AT 2 WESTERN VILLAS, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS) AND LATER THE POLICE STATION, MANGOTSFIELD, BRISTOL. THEY HAD NO CHILDREN. DESCRIBED AS A METHODIST, 5 FOOT 10.5 INCHES TALL, 35 INCH CHEST, 136 LBS, BROWN EYES AND BROWN HAIR.

HE ENLISTED BEVERLEY, 08/09/1914. FORMERLY A PRIVATE IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE 13/07/1915. WOUNDED IN ACTION ON 29/12/1915. WOUNDED WITH SHELL SHOCK, ON 05/07/1916. INVALIDED TO ENGLAND. TRANSFERRED TO LABOUR CORPS, ON 30/06/1917. HE MARRIED ETHEL MAY BATEMEN (1896-1989), IN 1917, AT CHIPING SUDBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE. SHE LIVED AT THE LANE, LYNE, CHALFONT, GLOUCESTER (WAR PENSION ADDRESS)

HE DIED AT HOME ON LEAVE, FROM INFLUENZA. BURIED IN HULL WESTERN CEMETERY. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 4 YEARS AND 179 DAYS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HUL DAILY MAIL, ON 06/03/1919.
