BORN PONTEFRACT 19/07/1899. SON OF ROBERT ANDERSON (1868-1942) & HELENA ANDERSON, OF 4, CHARLOTTE’S TERRACE, CLARENDON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN, SIX BOYS AND TWO GIRLS. HIS FATHER WAS THE QUARTER MASTER’S SERGEANT, ON HMS ‘DREADNOUGHT’.
EVELYN ANDERSON ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 220050, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, DEPOT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, IN LONDON, ON 08/05/1918, AGED 19. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER ROBERT.
HE IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY, WITH HIS OLDER BROTHER WILFRED ANDERSON, ROYAL NAVY, WHO DIED 27/04/1921, AGED 24.
HIS OTHER BROTHERS, ALBERT SERVED IN THE 3RD EYR, AND ALEX IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. THEIR STORY IS REPORTED IN THE ‘HULL TIMES’ ON 30/01/1915.
