BORN HULL 1878. HIS WIFE GERTRUDE (BORN 12/12/1876) AND CHILDREN, LIVED AT 67,WINCOLMLEE, 35, NEWTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES) AND 326 , ST GEORGES ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THEY HAD TWO SONS, FREDERICK JAMES, (BORN 29/8/1908) & ERIC BROUGHTON (BORN 27/7/1910).

HIS MOTHER, LIVED AT 51 MADELEY STREET, HULL.

A MEMBER OF THE HULL DISTRICT GARDENER SOCIETY. HE WORKED AS A LAMP LIGHTER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED TO THE 2/5TH KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/08/1918, AGED 40.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/11/1918.
HE IS BURIED AT CONDE-SUR-L’ESCAUT COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “FATHER IN THY GRACIOUS KEEPING LEAVE WE NOW THY SERVANT SLEEPING”.
