EDUCATED AT BURTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL AND HYMERS COLLEGE, HULL. EMIGRATED TO VANCOUVER. WORKED AS A CHAUFFEUR. ENLISTED AUGUST 1914. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 11 INCHES TALL, 38.5 INCH CHEST, BROWN HAIR, HAZEL EYES, FAIR COMPLEXION, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.
HE SERVED AS A SAPPER WITH THE CANADIAN ENGINEERS. WOUNDED IN THE TRENCHES BY A HIGH EXPLOSIVE SHELL. DIED OF WOUNDS AT NO 14, WIMEREUX GENERAL HOSPITAL, ON 21/05/1915, AGED 25. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES 29/05/1915. HE LEFT £2,137 TO HIS STEP BROTHER JOHN WILLIAM HISLOP, A DENTIST, AT 18 ALBION STREET, HULL.
