HE ENLISTED IN THE 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT ON 11/05/1908. MARRIED FRANCES ATKINSON, AT NEWLAND CHURCH HALL, HULL, ON 18/08/1915. HIS WIFE FRANCES MAY ATKINSON & DAUGHTER GRETA (BORN 11/02/1917), LIVED AT 5 CRYSTAL AVENUE, CAVE STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS) AND 2, BROMPTON TERRACE, PARK ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 27/11/1915, AGED 25 YEARS AND 180 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 112 LBS WEIGHT, 34 INCH CHEST, TATTOOS ON BOTH ARMS. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 12/12/1916. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/10/1917, AGED 24. COMMEMORATED AT TYNE COT MEMORIAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, FRANCES.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/10/1917, 01/11/1917 & 03/10/1918.
