BORN HULL 10/01/1899. THIRD SON OF SERGEANT. ERNEST WOOD BACHE & THERESA BACHE, OF 17 QUEEN’S PLACE, SYKE STREET, HULL, AND 2 JAMES PLACE, NEW GEORGE STREET, HULL. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. BEFORE THE WAR, HE WORKED AT WILMINGTON OIL MILL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND SHERWOOD FORESTERS. DIED OF BRONCHITIS, AT ASFELD, SEDAN, ON 23/07/1918, AGED 19. HE IS BURIED AT SEDAN (ST. CHARLES) COMMUNAL CEMETERY, FRANCE. HIS GARVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE LIVETH FOR EVER”
HIS FATHER AND BROTHERS, PRIVATE, ORONTES BACHE & PRIVATE, ERNEST BACHE, SERVED IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, AND ARE LISTED ON THE NEW GEORGE STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (HDM 3/11/1917).
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 25TH JULY 1919. *
