HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 21/12/1914, AGED 22. JOINED THE 12TH EYR (HULL PALS). ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 29/02/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST EYR. WOUNDED BY RIFLE GRENADE TO RIGHT ARM, FACE, WRIST AND LEFT THIGH, ON 13/09/1916. DIED OF WOUNDS, 26/08/1916, AGED 26. HE HAD SERVED FOR THREE YEARS AND 249 DAYS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ELIZA.
