HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, TOM AND HARVEY AND ONE SISTER, MARY ANN JOHNSON, AT 79 WEST PARADE, ANLABY ROAD, HULL. WHEN HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1906, SOME SIBLINGS LIVED WITH THEIR GRANDPARENTS, JOHN & MARY NN MARROW, AT 13 LINWOOD TERRACE, DANSOM LANE, HULL.
CHRLES WAS A FISHERMAN AND LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 10 INCHES TALL, 37-39 INCH CHEST, 175 LBS WEIGHT
HE MARRIED ON 24/10/1910. HIS WIFE, RUTH ESTHER MILLER (1890-1953), LIVED AT 26, WALCOTT STREET, HULL (MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE), 4, BRAEMAR TERRACE, WALCOTT STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) AND LATER, 49 ETON ROAD, STOCKTON-ON-TEES.
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 30/11/1914. SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS. DIED AT HULL, ON 06/03/1915, OF MIDDLE EAR DISEASE AND CEREBRIAL ABCESS, AGED 25.
LISTED IN ST MATHEWS CHURCH. COMMEMORATED AT HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 34899, LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE MARCH 1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S (WILTSHIRE) REGIMENT. DIED OF SHELL WOUNDS, TO THE ABDOMEN, ON 23/10/1918, AGED 30. BURIED AT INCHY COMMUNAL CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE.
