Born Beverley, 1886. Eldest son of William and Mary Baker, of 64, Keldgate, Beverley (1911 Census). Son of a Tanner’s labourer.
He was a bread maker and baker. Described as 5 foot, 1 inch tall, 114 lbs weight, 34 inch chest, required dental treatment, poor physical development, tattoos.
Married at Beverley, 7 Feb 1914, Husband of Sarah Lilian Stephenson (born 6 Jul 1888), at 3, Regent Street, Beverley, East Yorkshire (war pension address). They had one daughter, Gladys Mary, born on 5 Sept 1914.
Enlisted at Beverley, on 28 Feb 1916. Served in the Royal Army Service Corps. Discharged on 9 July 1916. Died of heart failure and chronic asthma, on 31 Dec 1916, aged 30. He did not serve overseas.
