Born Hull 1882. He married Alice, Ada Hudson, at Hull on 17/11/1903, aged 21. They lived at 10 Jane Terrace, St Mark Street, Hull (1911 Census). A worked as a Rullyman for Earles Shipbuilding Yard.
He enlisted in Hull. Formerly 24949, East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the Tyneside Irish, Northumberland Fusiliers. Killed in action, on 19/01/1917. He left widow Alice and four children (Walter, Christopher, Robert and Lilian), at 14 Marvel Street, Drypool, Hull (War Pension Ledger address). She received a weekly pension of 28 shillings and nine pence, from 02/08/1917, seven months after her husband’s death.
