Born Molescroft, Beverley, 1892. Son of Henry and Clara Baker, of 29, Wood Lane, Beverley, Yorkshire (CWGC address). He had two brothers and one sister and was employed as a General carrier.
Enlisted at Beverley, on 11 Dec 1915. Posted to France, on 11 June 1917. Served in the 9th Welsh Regiment. Wounded in the arm and thigh, 27 July 1918. Died of wounds, on 8 Jun 1918, aged 26. Buried Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.
His grave inscription, reads, DEARER TO MEMORY THAN WORDS CAN TELL
His army effects were left to his father, Henry. He left girlfrind, Frances Gillyon and daughter Margaret at 57, Keldgate, Beverley.
