BORN HULL 07/09/1883. SON OF WILLIAM BALL (1861-1945) ELLEN LEADHAM ROACH (1863-1938), OF 5 HARRY TERRACE, OXFORD STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. WORKED AS A FISH DOCK LABOURER. HIS BROTHER LIVED AT 90 NEWSTED STREET, HULL.

HIS WIFE, ESTHER (BORN 14/12/1895) AND DAUGHTER, HETTY (BORN 26/9/1916), LIVED AT 9 CLAREMONT AVENUE, NICHOLSON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. SERVED WITH THE 1ST CAMERONIAN HIGHLANDERS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/09/1917, AGED 33. BURIED AT TYNE COT CEMETERY, BELGIUM.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/12/1917 & 04/01/1918.

HIS WIDOW, ESTHER, WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION, OF 20 SHILLINGS AND FIVEPENCE, ON 20TH MAY 1918.
