A FORMER CLERK. HE ENLISTED AT CLEETHORPES, ON 11/12/1915. MOBILISED ON 07/04/1916. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 8,5 INCHES TALL, 118 LBS WEIGHT, 33-35 INCH CHEST, WESLEYAN RELIGION. POSTED TO THE 1ST LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 24/07/1916. WOUNDED WITH SHELL SHOCK, ON 19/09/1916. KILLED IN ACTION ON 11/04/1917, AGED 20. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON HULL’S WALKER STREET MEMORIAL.
HE WAS UNMARRIED AND HIS ARMY PENSION WENT TO HIS FATHER, ALFRED.
HIS BROTHER, FRED BANNISTER, SERVED IN THE ROYAL VETINARY CORPS DURING THE WAR. DISCHARGED ON 10/09/1918 AND RECEIVED A WAR PENSION. ANOTHER BROTHER, REGINALD SERVED IN THE MERCHANT NAVY AT SEA.
