Born Wakley, Sheffield, 1892. Nephew of Mrs Eleabor Violet Tyler at 4, Allon Vale, Estcourt Street, Hull (War Pension address). His parent both dead he worked as a signal lighter and his auntie was his next of kin.
He enlisted in Sheffield, on 20/10/1914. Served with the 8th EYR. Killed in action, at Loos, on 26/09/1915, aged 23. He left £25 in his will to his auntie.
