Born Hull 1898. Son of John Thompson Barker and Ann Barker, of 59, Caledonia St., Scarborough. He enlisted in Scarborough. Formerly, 6549, the Yorkshire regiment. He served as Lance Corporal, with the 1/4th York and Lancaster regiment. Died in action, on 14/09/1916, aged 18. His army effects were left to his mother. Unmarried. He left sisters Elsie & Elizabeth.
Buried at Caudry Old cemetery, in France. His Grave inscription, reads, “HE GAVE HIS LIFE THAT WE MIGHT LIVE IN PEACE”
