Frank Barraclough was born in 1874, at Ackworth, Pontefract, Yorkshire. His mother, Jane Ann Reeves (1856-1930), was 18. He had two brothers and one sister.
He married Clara Emma Glover (1873-1944), on 15 April 1895 in Hunslet, Yorkshire. They had five children in 12 years. They lived at 3, Marr Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (War Pension address). He worked as a Butcher’s Assistant, (1901 Census).
He had enlisted at Doncaster on 20 Jan 1902 and served with the Imperial Yeomanry, 34th Batt 153 Coy, during the Boer war. Wounded at Frobisher Bay. Discharged at Aldershot, on 3 Dec 1902. he is not recorded in the 1911 Census, although his wife is living at 3, Marr Terrace, Bean Street, Hull
He enlisted in Scarborough. Served as a Bombardier, in the 46th Siege Bty. Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action, on 27/09/1917, aged 42. Buried at Chester Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
