Barrick, George Oliver James

BORN HULL 1892. ONLY SON OF JAMES A BARRICK (1854-1930) & MARY JANE BARRICK, OF 16 TYNE STREET, HULL AND 129, WORTHING STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD SEVEN SISTERS, SOME OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY. SON OF A RAILWAY CLERK. HE ALSO WORKED AS A CLERK.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. COMMISSIONED INTO THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. DIED AT YPRES, ON 06/11/1917, AGED 25.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER JAMES, AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS, WHO WAS LISTED AS A COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER.
GEORGE BARRICK IS BURIED AT BARD COTTAGE CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A LOVING SON AND BROTHER KIND A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY LEFT BEHIND”.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLAND, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.
