BORN HULL 1875. BEFORE THE WAR HAD SERVED IN THE RFA AND WORKED FOR MESSRS T S TAYLOR’S LAUNDRY, SOUTHCOATES LANE. BEFORE BECOMING A NAVAL STOKER. LEFT WIDOW HARRIET A BENNETT & CHILDREN, AT 10 ALBERT VILLAS, HOLLAND STREET, HULL, (NAVAL ADDRESS). ALSO MOVED TO 213 HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. EMPLOYED BY MESSRS, T.S. TAYLOR’S, LAUNDRY, SOUTHCOATES LANE.

HE HAD ALSO SERVED WITH THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY BEFORE THE WAR, BUT ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL NAVY.

HE WAS PRESENT AT THE FALL OF ANTWERP. DIED AS PRISONER OF WAR AT GRONIGEN, HOLLAND, WHERE MANY SAILORS WERE INTERNED. HE DIED OF PERITONITIS IN HOSPITAL, AGED 42.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 13TH JUNE 1917. *
