Born Aldbrough, Hull, 1891. Son of George and the late Emily Bennington, of Aldbrough. Enlisted Hornsea. Formerly Private, 21681 East Yorkshire regiment. Transferred to the 2nd Yorkshire regiment. Killed in action, on 18/04/1917, aged 28. Buried at Cayeux Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
He is commemorated on the Aldbrough village war memorial
