HE HAD THREE SISTERS. HIS FATHER WAS A NAVAL PENSIONER FROM DONAGAL, IRELAND.
JOHN WORKED AS A DRAPER’S ERRAND BOY. HE ALSO SERVED IN THE TERRITORIAL FORCE.
ENLISTED HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/04/1915. TRANSFERRRED TO THE 50TH DIVISIONAL AMMUNITION COLUMN, RFA. DIED ON 04/11/1918, AGED 23, AT THE 12TH CASUALTY CLEARING STATION. BURIED FRANCE.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON ST JOHNS, NEWLANDS MEMORIAL, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.
