Binks, Henry

BORN HULL 1889. SON OF HARRY & ANNIE ELIZA BINKS, OF 14, HILDA GROVE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HIS FATHER WORKED FOR BLUNDELLS PAINT WORKS. HE WAS A LABOURER AT WHEALLEY WORKS BEFORE THE WAR.

HE ENLISTED HULL. A DRIVER FOR THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 30/07/1915. SERVED THREE AND A HALF YEARS IN FRANCE. MARRIED EDITH NIX AT HULL IN 1917. HAD RETURNED FROM HOME LEAVE IN OCTOBER 1918. DIED OF INFLUENZA AT THE 22ND CLEARING STATION, FRANCE, ON ARMISTICE DAY , 11,11,1918, AGED 29.

COMMEMORATED ON THE CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, FRANCE AND AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.

HIS WAR PENSION WAS LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, EDITH, AT 15, EAST STREET, DRYPOOL, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS)
HIS TWO BROTHER IN LAWS, ALSO DIED THE WAR – CORPORAL, JAMES NIX, 200737, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, OF 14 EAST STREET, DRYPOOL, KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/05/1918. ALSO SERGEANT, JOHN CHARLES NIX, WHO HAD BEEN AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR BRAVERY AT OPPY WOOD, KILLED IN 1918.
