PRE WAR HE HAD SERVED FOUR YEARS WITH THE EYR TERRITORIALS. ENLISTED IN HULL. EX 11/323, 11TH EYR. SERVED IN EGYPT. HE WAS PROMOTED FROM THE RANKS IN JULY 1916. COMMISSIONED TO 2ND LIEUTENANT ON 29/09/1916. SERVED IN ‘A’ COMPANY, UNTIL HIS DEATH IN ACTION, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 26. KILLED WHILE LEADING HIS PLATOON AND SUCCESSFULLY TAKING THE ENEMY TRENCH. HE WAS A SINGLE MAN. HE LEFT £93 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER WHO WORKED ON THE RAILWAYS. PROBATE ADDRESS WAS 2 BACHELER STREET, HULL.
