Capt, William Hutchinson Blanchard,

BORN POCKLINGTON, YORKSHIRE, 1861. SON OF WILLIAM HUTCHINSON BLANCHARD, OF HULL.

HIS WIFE KATHLEEN BLANCHARD, LIVED 374 CONCORD AVENUE, TORONTO, CANADA.

A FORMER SOLDER. HE SERVED AS A VET IN THE BOER WAR. HE EMIGRATED TO PETERBRO, CANADA. AND LIVED THERE FOR 35 YEARS. HE WAS AMEMBER OF PETERBORO VETINARY CORPS, THE FORESTERS AND CHOSEN FRIENDS LODGES, AND AN ANGILICAN CHURCHMAN.

HE ENLISTED IN CANADA. SERVED AS A CAPTAIN IN THE ARMY VETINARY CORPS. POSTED WITH THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (CEF). SERVED AT THE FRONT FOR TWO YEARS AND EIGHT MONTHS. RETURNED  TO CANADA TWO WEEKS BEFORE HIS DEATH. HE DIED OF CANCER, AT TORONTO BASE HOSPITAL, ON 08/10/1917, AGED 56. AND IS BURIED THERE. HE WAS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE MOST ABLEST VETINARY DOCTORS AND WAS GIVEN A FULL MILITARY FUNERAL

HIS SON, LANCE CORPORAL, BRUCE R. BLANCHARD, 21ST CEF, WON THE MILITARY MEDAL. ANOTHER SON, DRIVER,, GEORGE W. BLANCHARD, SERVED WITH THE 33RD CEF BATTERY.
