BORN HULL 18/09/1894. SON OF HENRY BRAND BLANSHARD (1862-1946) & ALICE HURDMAN (1862-1949), AT 4 FINSBURY GROVE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE LIVED WITH GRANDMOTHER AND SEVEN SIBLINGS AGED 5-21 YEARS AT THIS SAME ADDRESS. EDUCATED AT PARK ROAD SCHOOL. WORKED FOR THE HULL COUNCIL SANITARY DEPARTMENT AS A GENERAL LABOURER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 04/09/1914. ARRIVED AT THE FRONT ON 21/01/1915. WOUNDED BY A SHELL AT CUINCHY, NEAR LA BASSEE. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 02/02/1915, 3.30PM, AT NO:1 FIELD HOSPITAL. HE IS BURIED AT BETHUNE TOWN CEMETERY.
HIS MOTHER WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 5 SHILLINGS, ON 08/07/1918.
HE NAME IS LISTED ON PROVIDENCE ROW STREET MEMORIAL, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL.
HIS DEATH WAS RECORDED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLL OF HONOUR, VOLUME1, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
