HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A BOMBARDIER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/06/1917, AGED 39. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 06/07/1917.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ELIZABETH. HE ALSO LEFT HER £450 IN HIS WILL AT 54 CRANBROOK AVENUE, HULL (PROBATE ADDRESS)
HE IS BURIED IN BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE LAID HIS RICHEST GIFT ON THE ALTAR OF DUTY HIS LIFE”
