George Borman, of Pulman Street, Hull, killed a the Somme, 18/08/1916, aged 19

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF GEORGE WILSON BORMAN (1861-1930) & ANNIE BAUMFORTH (1868-1935), OF 21 PULMAN STREET, HULL 9WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A LABOURER. ONE OF 12 CHILDREN. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS, SOME OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY.

HE ENLISTED IN HEXHAM, NORTHUMBERLAND. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, 50TH DIVISION. KILLED IN ACTION, AT HENNENCOURT WOOD, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 19. HIS BODY WAS UNRECOVERED AND HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE, TO THE MISSING.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE.

HIS BROTHERS, FRANCIS AND ALBERT WILSON BORMAN ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.
