BORN DRIFFIELD 1884. SON OF DAVID EDWARD BOURNER (1854-1899) & MARY ANN ROBSON (1858-1940), OF 20 CHESTNUT AVENUE, PARK ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS & PARISH MAGAZINE). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. FOUR BROTHERS SERVED IN THE WAR, AND THREE DIED WITHIN TWO YEARS. HAROLD & GEORGE BOURNER, WERE ALSO KILLED IN ACTION.

PERCY WAS A DRAPER’S ASSISTANT, EMPLOYED BY MESSRS, CRAFT, WITHAM, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND AND 3RD EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN FRANCE AND WAS WOUNDED TWICE. HE WAS RECOVERING FROM SEPTIC WOUNDS, AT CAMBRIDGE HOSPITAL. HE ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED WHILE BOATING, ON 16/05/1918, AGED 24, AT CHESTERTON, CAMBRIDGESHIRE. HE WAS BURIED AT HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 24/05/1918. *
A WIDOWER. HE HAD MARRIED LOUISA STAMP (1889-1916), IN 1915. SHE DIED IN CHILDBIRTH, DURING A HULL ZEPPELIN RAID.  THEY HAD ONE SON, PERCY BOURNER (1916-2001).

HIS BROTHER HAROLD, 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE HAD BEEN KILLED ON 19/07/1916, AGED 28. HIS OTHER BROTHER, SERGEANT, GEORGE DAVID BOURNER, 16TH CHESHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED ON 13/07/1917, AGED 26. THEIR WIDOWED MOTHER, MARY, HAD LOST THREE SONS IN THE WAR.
