Born Preston, Lancashire, 1886. Son of Isaac Bowen, of 47, Luke Street, Preston, Lancashire (war pension address). Employed as a Shoe and slipper worker, living at 30 Dean Lane, Newton Heath, North Manchester (1911 census), with his wife Annie. Living in Hull when war began.
He enlisted in Hull. Served with the 18th Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex) Regiment (1st Public Works Pioneers). Killed in action on 20/07/1916, aged 29.
Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
